As 48 seat take-out or eat-in café with a full liquor license, the focus of the Tongue is a 40-ft communal table composed from wood salvaged from the building's original support beams.
Stumptown Coffee Roasters supply the coffee, J.N. & Z. the sausages, bacon, and ham. Bread and pastries from our very own bakery, homemade soups, freshly baked muffins & cookies, freshly roasted turkey & beef, handmade salamis from Moccia. These are all items that make breakfast and lunch at the Salty Tongue a great experience.
Salty tongue is located at 213 Carrall Street in Gastown, next to The Irish Heather.
You can park on the street (the meters run till 10:00, 7 nights a week), or at the EasyPark on Water St. - it's a secure, patrolled lot with 600 spaces, just a short walk from our door. There is more information available on EasyPark's website.
If you're not familiar with Gastown (or if you're a visitor to Vancouver), you can get directions to our location from Google Maps.
Taxis pick up and drop off right at our front door.
Salty Tongue is open from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday.
We are delighted to serve minors in Salty Tongue Café, either in the day or in the evenings as the GastroPub's dining room.
Walk in and if you're in a rush - choose one of the listed or premade options. If you're feeling creative however, grab a sandwich order sheet (and take a few extra to have on hand to make it speedy the next time) and go to town. Fresh, gourmet ingredients lend themselves to crazy crazy good sandwiches. Add on some tabbouleh salad or another side to round things out, and find a bench to sit in the sun and and enjoy before heading back to work.
